Southern Glazer’s has inked a deal to become the national distributor of atmospheric water brand A1R Water, which is led by former Bacardi executive Pete Carr as president and CEO. Southern will begin by handling distribution of the brand’s canned sparkling and still water in South Florida, followed by bottled water options. Expansion to other markets is planned for the future.

“This new relationship with A1R Water represents a strategic opportunity to reach consumers in the non-alcohol beverage space,” said Southern Glazer’s president and CEO Wayne Chaplin. “With A1R Water, we’re combining our strengths to continue delivering to the demands of our customers and suppliers while also aligning with the values of our consumers.”

Carr said Southern’s “extensive expertise and capabilities in the beverage sector makes them the ideal champion to support A1R Water in the market.” A1R Water’s air-to-water technology creates clean water from humidity in the air, with the company producing units that range from countertop consumer offerings to 3,000 liter a day industrial systems.—Daniel Marsteller
