  • Sonoma County winery Aperture Cellars is expanding into nine new states, bringing its national footprint to 29 markets. The company’s distribution partners in the new states are Quail Distributing in Nebraska; Vintage Wine Company in Michigan; Heidelberg Distributing in Kentucky and Ohio; and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Missouri, Indiana, and Iowa. Aperture’s portfolio includes a flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, Bordeaux Red Blend, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc.
  • Russian River Valley-based Gary Farrell Winery has named Doug Benzenberg as director of national sales, a newly created position. A 25-year wine industry veteran, Benzenberg’s career has included time with Franciscan Estates, Icon Estates, Hope Family Wines, Hundred Acre, and Old Bridge Cellars. According to the company, Benzenberg will work with Gary Farrell’s sales and marketing agency Vintus, and initially focus on expanding the brand’s national presence and reintroducing the wines to key markets. The winery draws from some of Sonoma County’s most renowned vineyards, including Rochioli, Bacigalupi, Gap’s Crown, and Durell.
