•Edrington’s the Macallan has released A Night on Earth: The First Light, the fourth release whisky in the brand’s series celebrating global New Year’s traditions. The whisky is a blend of whiskies aged in Sherry-seasoned American and European oak, with a small portion aged in ex-Bourbon barrels. The whisky is bottled at 43% abv and comes with a gift box designed by New Zealand-based artist Bonnie Brown. A Night on Earth: The First Light is rolling out in select retailers globally, retailing at $124 a bottle. Last year, the Macallan was at 222,000 cases in the U.S., according to Impact Databank, making it the second-largest single malt brand.

•Bardstown, Kentucky’s Heaven Hill is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a new 9-year-old Bourbon. The whiskey, Heaven Hill Distillery’s 90th Anniversary 9-Year-Old Kentucky Straight Bourbon, is distilled from the company’s traditional mash bill—78% corn, 12% malted barley, and 10% rye—with 30% of the blend aging in heavy char barrels. The Bourbon is bottled at 53.5% abv and was made from 204 barrels of whiskey. The limited release carries a suggested price of $125 and is now available across the U.S.

Southern Glazer’s has announced the retirement of J.B. Jarboe II, partner and general manager of Oklahoma, effective October 31. A 33-year industry veteran, in 2018, Jarboe joined Southern Glazer’s after his family’s Jarboe Sales Company integrated into its Oklahoma market. Under his management, Southern Glazer’s Oklahoma market expanded its customer base to more than 7,000 accounts. Michael Rosson, senior vice president, Oklahoma Sales, will continue to lead the Oklahoma business and will report to Derek Teter, senior vice president/general manager of Arkansas, Tennessee, and Oklahoma.
