Bacardi Expands D’Ussé Cognac To New Markets
February 19, 2013Bacardi USA has introduced its D’Ussé Cognac brand into several new markets, following the label’s initial launch into New York and Washington, D.C. last summer (reported by SND on May 9, 2012). D’Ussé ($45 a 750-ml.) entered Miami in December; Las Vegas, Chicago and New Orleans in January; and Los Angeles, Houston, New Jersey and Connecticut this month.
In a statement, D’Ussé’s vice president brand managing director Giles Woodyer said the Cognac saw an “incredible response” in New York last year, appealing “not only to current Cognac drinkers but also to a new generation of inquisitive drinkers.”
D’Usse’s sole offering is a VSOP Cognac, but Bacardi says additional expressions are in development. At the brand’s New York launch, Bacardi USA CEO Robert Furniss-Roe told Shanken News Daily that XO and VS variants could eventually follow the VSOP.
