Former CEO Walsh To Maintain Role With Diageo In Coming Years

August 13, 2013

Paul Walsh, who stepped down as CEO of Diageo Plc on June 30, is being retained by the company “in a role with the Scotch whisky industry” for up to five years, according to Diageo’s latest annual report, which was released yesterday. Walsh will be paid £80,000 ($124,000) annually in his new role.

Walsh, who is joining catering group Compass as chairman next year, was paid £14.8 million in total compensation by Diageo in the company’s recently completed fiscal year (ended June 30, 2013), a 30% jump from the previous year. The boost came largely from performance-related incentives that grew with the company’s surging share price.
