October 16, 2013•Utah craft distillery Ogden’s Own has released two new vodkas, cinnamon-flavored Five Wives Sinful and vanilla-flavored Five Wives Heavenly. The 70-proof duo, launching first in Oregon and Idaho, are offshoots of Ogden’s “middle-shelf” Five Wives brand that is distributed in 15 states (Five Wives is available online in 26 states). Concurrently, the distiller has announced that it’s moving to a new location in Ogden, Utah, which will include a retail space. Managing partner Steve Conlin said the goal is for production to commence at the new site by the end of this month, with the retail operation to be opened in time for the holidays.
•Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina’s Nectar Ales has been renamed Humboldt Brewing Co. as part of a full rebranding effort. The new name marks a return to the craft brewer’s original title and is a nod to its beginnings in Humboldt County, California. Along with the revamp, Humboldt Brewing is also releasing new packaging with hummingbird imagery across its core portfolio, which comprises its Red Nectar, Nectar IPA and Humboldt Brown Hemp Ale labels. Additionally, the brand is launching a new limited release, Double IPA 500 B.C. Rolling out later this month, 500 B.C. will be sold in 22-ounce bottles, with $1 from each case sold being donated to help preserve redwoods in Humboldt County. Founded in 1987, Humboldt Brewing is owned by Total Beverage Solution and brewed by California’s Firestone Walker.
