Global Wine Giant Les Grands Chais de France Eyes U.S. Sparkling Segment
June 10, 2014French wine producer Les Grands Chais de France (GCF) is targeting the U.S. with a new sparkling wine under its JP Chenet brand. JP Chenet Ice Edition, retailing at $19.99 a 750-ml., is a sparkler with “enhanced effervescence” that is made to be served over ice, either on its own or in cocktails. It’s hitting key markets nationwide this month.
Among the largest-selling French wine brands globally, JP Chenet has had worldwide annual volume of more than 7 million cases in recent years. The brand currently has a small presence in the U.S., but GCF—with global volume of around 35 million cases—recently set up its own Miami-based import unit, Advantage International, signaling its intention to ramp up its activities stateside.
